I3A Biomedical Engineering Division from the University of Zaragoza, is working on a research project to improve dive computers.

Currently, dive computers determine decompression periods and maximum exposure time, using only reference tables safely collected based on experience. These tables are general and not adapted to the physiology of each diver. This project aims to conduct a feasibility study of the use of biomedical signals during the dive to identify dysfunctional neuropsychological and psychophysiological states, that could lead to underwater accidents, in order to avoid them.

I3A carries on research in the field of biosensors. The idea consists in measuring physiological parameters of SCUBA divers during the dives in order to improve the accuracy of dive computers. Sailing Living Lab will collaborate at the final stage of the project, helping to validate its development, spreading the results, and actuating the technological transfer.

In addition, I3A will collaborate in the structural calculus of the solar arch that will be developed through Tecnalias’sSolar Face” technology
